One question.

We will build the convention from the problem it solves to the auction it produces.

01 / Why it matters

Light openings happen.

Third and fourth seat openings can be light. In fourth seat, many players use the Rule of 15: add your HCP to your number of spades, and open with 15 or more.

02 / The question

2♣ asks first.

As a passed hand with 3+ card support and 10 to 12 points, bid 2♣. It has nothing to do with clubs. It asks whether partner has a full opener.

03 / The answer

Opener reports back.

2♦ shows a full opener, so you can look for game. 2 of the major shows a minimum, and you pass.

04 / When it's off

Know the exceptions.

A weak hand simply raises the major. Game values bid game outright. An unpassed hand's 2♣ is natural, and Bergen is off once you've passed.

Before you join

A few practical things.

Who is this workshop for?

Beginner and intermediate duplicate players who have passed hands, then wondered whether to trust partner's third or fourth seat opening. If you have used a simple raise before, you are ready for Reverse Drury.

Do I need a partner?

No. You can join solo or with a partner. We will cover the agreement clearly enough to bring home and discuss before your next game.

What if I miss a live session?

Recordings of both sessions are included, so you can return to the lesson and Play of the Hand afterward.

What device do I need?

A laptop, desktop or iPad with a stable connection. Any of the three works fine for following along and using the practice materials.

Is this included in VIP?
